Surprise #1

Last Tuesday morning a surprise of major proportions walked through the door! Kendrick took a 10 day leave and showed up here at our house surprising the kids=) It was a pretty fun moment. Since then we have all been enjoying having Uncle Kenny around and spending time with him as he has a bit of a break between his classes. He finished his time in Pensacola and is now headed to Cherry Point, NC, where he will be at least until the middle of March.

His next set of classes will begin Nov. 30th and he received his orders a couple weeks ago so he now knows his MOS (military occupational speciality) - 6312. His job for the next 4 years will be working on Harriers and his official title is Aircraft Communications/Navigation/Weapon Systems Technician, AV-8....does that sound cool or what! So, we are very glad to have Kendrick visit us, I just wish I had more pictures of all the fun that's taken place this past week=)

As soon as Kendrick walked in the door the kids swarmed him for the next several hours, not straying far from his side. The next morning Logan requested that Uncle Kendrick do his History with him, so that is what happened.Another fun outing we've had is a trip to the Watiki, an indoor water park in Rapid. As a gift to his nieces and nephews Uncle Kendrick treated the kids to a good, ol' time of swimming and sliding. Of course us grown ups had a pretty good time, too! But no pictures of that - my camera battery died after the second picture!!!! One of the fun things that took place at the same time is that Chad also was here for a quick visit. He came up for about 48 hours before he had to head back to his responsibilities in Holyoke, but at least we were able to see him for a bit.

And what I really wanted to post about was the 'Chubby Bunny' competition that took place one morning in our kitchen.....Kendrick won with 9, Zach a close second with 8 (!), Jenna fought her way up to 5, and Logan got 3. But, and I say this with MUCH frustration, after 4 attempts and hours of uploading, the video still will not post on the blog!!!!! You'll just have to trust me when I say you would have enjoyed it=)

On Saturday afternoon we decided to just go for a walk and once again we picked the railroad tracks. And, though it has never happened before, a train went by when we were down there! The kids thought that was pretty exciting=) Can you see it coming down the tracks?
We watched it coming....

And going.....Funny how even out in the great outdoors the kids still manage to climb all over Uncle Kendrick=)

Look at that big, strong Marine=)

Tim, one of Kendrick's friends who goes to our church, was also over that day and he became just another victim for out kids to climb on, play with, and throw rocks at (Sorry, Tim, I really think Jesse thought it was just a chunk of snow....maybe?)Although the pictures look bright and sunny it was quite cold outside, thus the jackets, scarves, unmatching gloves, hats, and earmuffs.

And of course I could resist just taking some plain, old pretty pictures!Well, that catches us up on most of the events up through last weekend and tomorrow, I hope to post about surprise #2!
